Hi everyone. Perhaps I’m being dense, but I can’t seem to export a smart folder to the desktop and I can’t find any info about whether this is even possible after searching and looking through the manual. I selected a smart folder and exported it, but it just left an empty, but properly named, folder on my desktop. Is there a way to export a smart folder and its contents?
You cannot export a smart folder because it is merely a saved search – there’s nothing inside of it – and serves only to display the results of the search.
However, you can select all or some of the search results from the smart folder’s document listing (i.e., the “contents” of the smart folder) and drag them – or export the selection – to a folder in Finder.
