# Favorites button

I would love to have a Favorites button on the bottom bar in DTTG on my iPhone so that I can get back to Favorites from wherever I am with one touch. Maybe you could provide the option of a Favorites button instead of the Information button.

The request is noted but it is very unlikely implementing different buttons would happen.
Also, why do you need a button to access the favorites when they’re immediately available on the databases screen?

That shortcut can be run from anywhere, including while you’re in DEVONthink To Go. And yes, you could modify it or create a shortcut to only open the Favorites.

Thank’s for the Tip with Quick Launch!!
As I frequently need to switch between two databases, in which I am mostly many taps away from the databases screen, Quick Launch to Favorites triggered by a double back tap spares me the need to navigate back every time.
Reaching Favorites is now three taps away, so a one-tap solution in the bottom bar would still be great.

I would like to ask again for a better way to navigate between groups in DTTG.
In the the thread „pin-selected-groups-to-the-front-page“ 3 users voice the same need of having to move between frequently accessed groups and wanting to have a quicker way to do it.
Using a launcher by tapping the back of my iPhone is cumbersome so I am not doing that.
I frequently have to move back and forth between groups and parts of different databases. Currently this requires tapping the screen many many times.
A way of returning to the first screen with one tap from wherever I am would be wonderful. That way Favorites or any smart group could be reached with two taps.
I am thankful that you are trying to keep the UI decluttered. The only button of the bottom bar on the iPhone I use regularly is the plus button. Can you give us the option to exchange for instance the sync symbol or the information button with a “Home” button?
Also it seems that a change was made to the Back-Button. Before it used to take me to where I was. Now it takes me up the hierarchical tree, which means that sometimes I need to tap it like crazy to get back to the first screen. Was this change intended? Is that really needed more than a back function?

No, you don’t. Long-press it and choose the parents, grandparents, etc.
* * *
- On a iPad with an external keyboard, _Shift-Command-H_ jumps to the root of a database.
- On an iPad or iPhone in landscape, right-swipe at the level of the back arrow to expose the sidebar.
- You can create a simple Shortcut to open the Favorites via its item link. This can be opened quickly e.g., with “Siri, Favorites”…
PS: Three people is not many, relative to the number of customers we have.Time and resources in here are finite and we have to consider the broad appeal of features we dedicate time to developing.

Also, the thread you reference is from 2016 – meaning DEVONthink To Go 2. I think navigating down from the _Favorites_ section and using the long press to return to _Favorites_ solves a lot?

I have now got two controls in iPhone control center, one for Favorites and one for my “Menu” document which has all the hyperlinks to my database. So these are just one swipe and tap away. But also long pressing the back-arrow is quick. As MD I have got a highly hyperlinked database for therapies, drug dosage and patient documentation. Quick navigation has always been important. I guess it comes with age that one is not as versed in customizing software as before, so thanks for helping me out!

If this is new to you, let me add that long pressing the back-arrow to get the navigation hierarchy is not unique to DTTG. It’s something that’s available in many applications 😀 Including the Files app, for example.
