In Catalina, filenames are not showing in DT3 unless they are selected. This makes DT3 very difficult to use.
Yes of course it should be very difficult to use, as both are in Betas.

Thanks for the report but it is inadvisable to run a beta operating system on a machine you need to be running properly.
Also, DEVONthink 3 is in beta testing, not an “early access program”. It is meant for testing, finding and reporting bugs. It should not be used in mission-critical or production environments. When beta testing, it’s always wise to use copies of data or test data. I personally also advocate running DEVONthink 3 on a separate macOS User account to keep things isolated. Your data, your choice - but I always err on the side of caution with peoples’ data.
Isn’t that what the OP is doing, reporting a bug?
Catalina is quite buggy so far and therefore bugs which are definitely ones of DEVONthink have a higher priority.
Just a. note to this - item names are visible in Catalina Dark Mode. That may not suit you but it’s a workaround
Problem solved in Catalina Public Beta 4. DT3 looks great and performs flawlessly since installing the Catalina update.
