Hi,
I have a question concerning duplicates. I wanted to highlight the duplicates within a database, but I did not find a way to do that. Did I miss something in the manual ?
Second question, I was using the “filter duplicates” rule. I then realized, that the duplicates are not highlighted, but moved to the trash (my fault not reading the manual carefully
). So here is the question, did I “switch on” the rule, so that it has effect all the time ? If so, how do “unswitch” it?
Thanks a lot
Preferences > General > Appearance > Mark duplicates and replicants in color will show duplicates in bold blue type.
See Help > Documentation > Windows > Main Window > Item List > Visual Cues
You can set a smart rule’s event trigger to On Demand to require manual intervention to run.
Thank you very much for the answer. I was looking for a possibility to run a search that show me all the duplicates across all databases with the result showing the like the first “original” file in plain format and all the duplicates of that file highlightend underneath it. Is that possible?
Another problem that I have. If I click on a file in bold blue, which indicates, that there are ducplicates of that file and I go to the information sidebar, I can see the instances window. It shows that there is 1 duplicate. If I click on it, then a menu pops up with details about the duplicate file. But if I click on that duplicate file, I can see the duplicate in the document view, but it does not lead me to the folder where the duplicate file is located. Also the info sidebar is not updated to the new file. And If I click on any file after that, the info sidebar does not show any information about the new file I clicked on, all the details of the info sidebar are actually empty.
This is a known bug that will be fixed by the next maintenance release.

No this is not possible. It’s also not possible to detect duplicates across databases.
