Focus on search field when opening sorter

Is there a reason why the focus does not lie in the search field when opening the Sorter through the “Search hotkey”? It requires to press TAB before entering search terms. Seems like on keystroke too much to me.

Which version of macOS are you running, I just tried it in Big Sur and it is working here.
