Graphics no longer resizing with table column width

Image files pasted into a table used to resize when the table column widths were changed. (I think they shrank to fit when the width was reduced, but never expanded past their original size when the width was increased.) That no longer happens – now the image stays the same size regardless of table column width.

This has really messed up my notes, where I use tables quite extensively, e.g. pasting comparison figures side-by-side; or just using a table to get a figure to a convenient small size.

This behaviour seems to have changed throughout the Mac OS, e.g. also in TextEdit.

I don’t know of any way to resize a graphic (e.g. you can’t select and then drag corners to resize) Does anyone know of an easy way to resize figures, or get back the resize-with-table-width functionality?

Thanks,
Andrew
