Group email conversation threads a posteriori

In that case one workaround is the above smart rule script by @Blanc, another possibility is to import the emails either via the View > Sidebar > Import interface or by using the scripts for Outlook (see scripts menu extra).

Can I find the script for this somewhere and make it sort on sender/reciever and dates as well? Only by name is not enough as this in reality only becomes a grouping of subjects and not threads.

The scripts for Outlook just import messages/mailboxes, scripts can change the sorting (at least not without changing the name).

As to the original question of this topic - is it possible to create conversation groups (or add e-mails to an existing conversation group) after an e-mail has been imported? This works when using the ‘Import mbox’ option, but I’m now also importing e-mail on a daily basis.

Threads are recognized by using the View > Sort > Threads option, I’m just wondering if someone has already written a script to add imported e-mails to the right threads / groups.

That’s not possible, at least not without scripting it on your own.
