Group tags removal from "Get Info"

A while back I clicked on “get info” and added a tag “safety” to all the documents in that group. I have since determined the tag was not useful and I want to remove it.

When I got back to “get info” and I backspace over the tag it disappears but I got back to the files and the “safety” tag is still present. Further, I go back to “get info” and the tag is still there?

How do I get rid of a “group tag”?

In File > Database Properties…

  • Is Exclude groups from Tagging enabled or disabled?

  • Is Inherit Tags of Groups enabled and you added the Tag to the parent group?

Since you’re inheriting the Tags of parent groups, you can’t remove the tag applied to the parent. The children will always retain that tag, logically so.
