Hello, I am using DTPO 2.8.3 with Yosemite 10.10.2.
The Groups & Tags HUD window is showing up with black text on a black background. Please see the attached screen shot. I have played with various setting in the Preferences and can’t seem to effect any change.

Have you tried restarting your computer?
Yes, several times.
The next maintenance release will fix this, in the meantime just disable System Preferences > Accessibility > Display > Increased Contrast or use Reduced Transparency instead.
Thanks. As an FYI, I already had Increase Contrast set, so that didn’t work. But I unchecked that and selected Reduce Transparency instead, and that fixed it.
Having Increase Contrast set to checked (On) is what (currently) breaks the display of the Groups & Tags display. However, all of the DEVONthink HUD panes currently look better with Reduce Transparency turned on also.
As of today (as it may change in the future), this gives me the best settings for DEVONthink:
