I know this has been discussed before, but it appears that what, for me, is a key issue has not been addressed. Apparently the only way to keep the window title from appearing in the toolbar is to set the toolbar to “icon only” mode. Yes, that allows room to display a huge number of icons – if you don’t need labels.
However, my reason for wanting to hide the window title is precisely to have maximum space to display both icons and text (and a Search field that can show a reasonable amount of text). I don’t want or need the window title, but I do need the labels to distinguish between toolbar icons that are too small, too gray-scale, and too similar for aging eyes to make out.
My request is that you decouple the window title setting from the toolbar button settings and let us set them independently. I don’t care if it’s a regular setting or a hidden preference. I just want to be able to turn the window title off, regardless of how I display my toolbar items.
