The default (PDF) hightlight color is yellow afaik.
Yet in night mode ( I use f.lux and not the std OsX night mode), I cannot distinguish my highlights anymore since the screen color temp is very yellow.
Would it be possible to change the default highlight color as a pref?

Or am I understanding right that once I change the color it will remain the same for a same doc (or DB or session)?
You can pick the colours you want by going to Preferences > Colors > Highlight. It won’t change de color of existing highlights (nothing will, unless you do it manually), but it will appear as options for the next time you highlight something.
@Bernardo_V is correct. Highlights don’t dynamically change color. They remain the color you used when you set the highlight.
