Since upgrading to DEVONthink 4.4, my scheduled Smart Rules seem to have stopped running properly.
Several Hourly rules that have worked for years no longer run automatically, although they still work manually. Daily rules also appear not to have run since around 13–14 September.
A useful test: if I change an affected rule to Every Minute, it runs repeatedly as expected. Changing it back to Hourly gives one run, then nothing further.
I’ve also duplicated a rule and rebooted the Mac, with no change. This affects multiple unrelated rules, so it doesn’t appear to be specific to one AppleScript or rule.
Setup: DEVONthink 4.4, macOS Tahoe 26.6.2, Mac mini M4. The DEVONthink app itself was updated on 13 September, which seems to coincide with when this started.
Has anyone else seen Hourly or Daily Smart Rule triggers stop working in 4.4?
Yes, they use both and have been in place for literally years. New simple every hour rules I set up to test only run intermittently - usually when I save the rule after editing and then it can be again after 6-12 hours.
There isn’t a built-in function for this so you must be using your own script to accomplish it. Have you verified the script’s behavior? If it is getting nothing to import, it would appear the smart rule did nothing.

PS: But the world is not a static place, especially the computing world. Even an update to your operating system could change things sufficiently to stop something from working.
Yes, I’m using Apple Script for email import but since I noticed the problem I inserted a notification as the first action so the rule should run and give the notification even if there is nothing to report. It doesn’t.
The daily smart rule just uses DT actions to lock documents a number of days after the modified date. That’s not running either and I can tell from the dates in the documents it should have locked that it stopped around the time I updated to the latest version of DT.
I’m now fairly convinced that my Hourly and Daily Smart Rules stopped working with the update to DEVONthink 4.4, and they are still not working.
One simple Hourly rule labels PDFs. Its result list now contains unlabelled PDFs from 14 September onwards; the earliest visible one is dated 14 September at 14:32. DEVONthink 4.4 was installed on this Mac the previous evening, 13 September at 19:43.
