How can I summarize Highlights as opposed to Annotations, I can't find a menu command for this

I am using DT Pro 4.2.2 and want to summarize Highlights (the underlines, the coloured highlighting, text notes (if possible) ) in pdfs, NOT Annotations. There is a menu item for Summarize Annotations, but not for Highlights. Where, if anywhere, is the command for Summarize Highlights?

thanks

There’s no dedicated command for highlights but Tools > Summarize Annotations includes also highlights.

Thanks for your response, Obviously I was doing something wrong, because when I do Summarize Annotations, it summarizes the Annotation plus the highlights which is what I want.

However, I expect the result to show up in the ?Folder called Annotations, in my database. Instead it shows up in the Folder where the files were kept. Is that the proper behavior?

The special Annotations group is for Annotation files (see the Inspectors > Info Pane > Annotations & Reminders section of the built-in Help and manual).

The Tools > Summarize… commands create the summary document(s) in the same group as the document’s you’re summarizing.

It is. Annotations linked to a document can be only created via the Annotations & Reminders inspector. This inspector also provides a command in its popup to insert the summarized annotations (e.g. highlights).

Thanks very much. All seems to be working well.

I wish there were a better naming convention. It took me a long time to realize the power of annotation files simply because I had associated the term with highlighting, comments, etc. I don’t have an answer, but the existence of two “annotations” inspectors is a tell.

Understood but there’s also years of inertia and history to be considered.
