I am brand-new both to DT and DTTG on my ipad. I was wondering if anyone could direct me to a tutorial to help connect the two? I’m having a hard time figuring out how to do this. Thanks!
Have you checked out the built-in Help in DEVONthink and DEVONthink To Go?
Yes. But I thinking I’m missing something in the process. I’ve connected DT to Dropbox as well as DTTG, but they are not speaking to eachother.
“Speaking” is definitely not on the feature list of DEVONthink.
@BLUEFROG has pointed you to Help. The same content is in the DEVONthink Manual which you can download from DEVON Technology’s web site. Terrific document authored by @BLUEFROG. While there get a copy of “Take Control of DEVONthink Pro” which is a free e-book compliments of DEVON Technology. Perhaps reading the instruction in either/both of these documents might be more clear than onscreen Help.
These documents give clear instruction on using numerous ways to connect, e.g. Bonjour, Dropbox, iCloud, CloudKit, WebDAV, and CloudMe. Better than any “tutorials” by third parties.
After trying again, if issues, then posting the exact steps you took, some screen shots of settings on both devices, your evidence of it not working, etc. would be useful to debug.
I have a suspicion what may be wrong.
Please post a screen capture of DEVONthink’s Preferences > Sync with the sync location selected.
Also, go into DEVONthink To Go’s Settings > Sync: Locations, tap the sync location, and send a screen capture of the databases list.
PS: I increased your trust level so you can post screencaps.
@BLUEFROG .They’re speaking to eachother now
When I hopped on to provide the screenshots I noticed that new databases were available for sync. Previously only the “boite global” (I imagine “global inbox” in English?) option was available. Now my other databases are available. I toggled them all on and now I’m in business. I don’t know why these databases were not originally visible on DTTG on my Ipad. Does it take a few hours for Dropbox to make the connection? I have no idea. (Maybe the DT guru’s worked some magic behind the curtain?) But things are syncing now. Thanks.
My intention was to use DTTG to sync files onto my ipad where I could read and mark them up without having to leave the DT ecosystem to do it. After playing with a few pdf’s on my ipad this morning I see that DTTG lets me do that, and my highlights/comments are synced back to the DT3 database on my laptop. This is exactly the workflow I was shooting for when I purchased DTTG.
Glad to hear everyone is talking and getting along nicely
Cheers!
