How do you search within a group?

How do you limit a search to the contents of a group?

I tried selecting the group, then adding the prefix “scope:selection” in the search field (as instructed by the Help docs). But that just limited the search to the current database.

Could you please post a screenshot? Thank you!

Step 1: selecting a group within my database that I want to search within for the word “approaches”.

Step 2: pasting the text “approaches scope:selection” into the search field:

The group selected in the sidebar is actually used. Without a visible sidebar double-clicking onto the group (if preference to always open double-clicked groups is disabled) and entering the search term should also work.

Perfect: all good, clear options. (I knew I was missing something.) Thanks!

Also…

This is why the scope defaulted to the database.
Your location is the Business database.
Your selection is the Writing group.
Two different entities and scope only applies to a location.

Makes sense now that I see it, but I couldn’t find anything in the help docs about how to achieve that.

I think I got confused too because the syntax for search prefixes — “scope:selection” — made me think that I’d be limiting the search to whatever I had selected (e.g. in the above case, the “Writing” group).

“scope:selection” — made me think that I’d be limiting the search to whatever I had selected (e.g. in the above case, the “Writing” group).

That makes sense.

but I couldn’t find anything in the help docs about how to achieve that.

I’m making a note on it for the documentation. Thanks!
