How can I export a database preserving the OCR? In general, what happens with files when they are exported?

Files are exported with exactly the same file type and content that they have in the database – including files that have been OCRd. The OCR text layer is retained. DT databases are packages (a type of folder) and the files are stored in them exactly as they are in other folders. When you export a file all that happens is that is copied from the folder in the DT database package to the folder you specify. If a document has tags associated with it in the database, then the tags are added as OpenMeta tags to that file when it is exported. That’s the only physical change to the document that DT does when a document is exported.
