How to handle rules on 2 Macs?

Hi,

I have 2 installations running on separate Macs. Today I edited some rules, created new ones and fixed errors in rules, all on my Mac mini.
Now I am here on the Macbook and am wondering how to get the rules synced between the two Macs? Especially for the errors I fixed. Is this possible?

Or is it generally better to have all rules running only on the Mini because it is always on. So to disable all rules on the Macbook not to interfere?

Advice?

Thanks
Dirk

Syncing smart rules, favorites, global smart groups, etc. can be done technically speaking. However, you should not expect some kind of real-time sync between Macs. And any kind of transfer/overwrite should not be done while DEVONthink is open on the receiving machine.

Yes, this is possible if you’re using the Mini as a central processing point.

Can you give some more detail on this and how it - technically - can be done?

I have a folder in one of my databases dedicated to storing all my smart rules, scripts and so used with DT, and other related items. Let’s say I’ve modified one of my current Smart Rules. I drag it into that folder from the DT interface and wait until it synchronizes. Then, on the other Mac, I first delete the current Smart Rule, go to the folder where the update is stored, right-click, and select “Open with.” I browse and open it with DT. The new rule is then set in my other installation.

I am not aware of another automated method for performing this process.
