How to index a file via Sorter?

Morning.

By dragging a file into the Sorter I want DTPO to only indexing the file, but not to import it. Is there an opportunity to change the preferences or to have a shortcut to change the behaviour of Sorter in this manner?

Thanks in advance for your support!

Kind regards, Friedrich

Sorry, but no - you cannot index files throught the Sorter. However, if you hold Option-Command and drag and drop to the dock icon, you can.

Yes, you can index via Sorter.

Press shift-control while dragging from Finder to a Sorter location. Be sure you see the swervy arrow as you drag the item over Sorter, else you’ll import the item.

Can you verify this, korm? I can see the arrow icon but post-drop the files do not show they are indexed and the path in the Info pane is in Files.noindex.

Thanks.

Thanks. Maybe a 10.9.x issue.

Dragging by Shift+Ctrl does not index a file at my System 10.11.4 and DTPO 2.8.10.

Aha… It does work in databases other than the Global Inbox. Thanks.

Which makes it an Easter Egg, or a bug (or a flea-bitten Easter Egg).

So – anyway – it would be a nice, permanent, non buggy feature.

I have filed a bug report on it. It’s interesting since it’s only the root of the Global Inbox. Subfolders of the GI work as expected.
