iCloud sync question

Apologies for what is probably a naive question.

Suppose I have two Macs with iCloud (CloudKit) sync turned on for a database.

One of the Macs (Mac 1) has a catastrophic failure and needs to have its hard drive erased and completely reinstalled.

If I turn off iCloud sync for the database on the other Mac (Mac 2), does the database data still stick around in iCloud since Mac 1 never turned off syncing?

Yes, the iCloud sync datastore continues to exist
To remove the sync datastore, use the Clean function

I recommend you read the Help > Tutorials > Understanding Sync tutorial as well as the In & Out > Sync section of the built-in Help and manual.

Thank you, that was the information I was looking for.

I had done so but I don’t believe the answer to this question is in those sections of the documentation. It looks like the closest would be the section Verify & Clean in Sync Issues. Thank you!

As a clarification. Your database isn’t in the sync location. This is a good thing to understand and keep in mind.

As well as this…
