Indexed File creation date in Finder inconsistent with DT3P

I’m moving from Evernote to DevonThink, and want to integrate my former Evernote files into my Finder file heirarchy and keep everything together in indexed files/folders. I have indexed the existing Finder folders in my DT database, and the Evernote imports are in separate internal (unindexed) DT groups in the same database. I want to convert the EN “notes” – imported as DT “formatted notes” (html) – to pdf before moving them out to the file system.

Here is what happens:

  1. Original EN import FileXYZ.html has creation date 7/18/2016 (carried over from EN into DT).
  2. After converting (Data > Convert) to PDF, FileXYZ.pdf also shows a creation date of 7/18/2016 in DT Inspector, but with Added and Modified dates as the current date.
  3. I move FileXYZ.pdf into indexed group Clippings. It deconsolidates and shows in the Finder folder Clippings, but with both Created and Modified dates showing the current date. In DT3 it still has the 7/18/2016 Creation Date.
  4. If I then modify the Creation Date of FileXYZ.pdf in DevonThink, the change propogates to the Finder.
  5. Note: If I move FileXYZ.html into the indexed Clippings group first and then convert it to pdf, I get the same result – the html file retains the original creation date in DT and the Finder, while the pdf file shows original creation date in DT and the current date in the Finder.

Why does the Finder not recognize the creation date that DT automatically applies to the pdf file resulting from the conversion, when it does recognize manual creation date changes from within DT? I really don’t want to have to adjust the creation dates manually on hundreds of files.

Where is your Clippings folder in the Finder?

Documents > File Cabinet > Files - General > Clippings

It;s not synced in any way.

What do you mean it’s not synced?

I mean it’s not in Dropbox, iCloud, or anything similar. It’s just an ordinary Finder folder local to my Mac.
