Many of the folders that I will want to sync with DTTG contain a mixture of indexed and imported files. How will DTTG handle the indexed files in the synced folders?
DEVONthink To Go treats indexed files no differently than files contained in the database. The only thing to be aware of is if you create a text file in DEVONthink To Go, it will be imported into the database when synced. If you want to have that document indexed instead, then you would need to export it out of DEVONthink, index it, then replicate the indexed document to the Sync Group.
Thanks Greg - so indexed files are actually copied onto the iPad? That sounds like a powerful capability. I have one database that consists entirely of an indexed Mail archive. If I sync that then I have a Mail archive To Go on my iPad within DTTG. Neat!
Here is the email notification that I received indicating that you had replied to this thread. The email was indexed in DEVONthink and synced to DEVONthink To Go. Due to the forced line breaks, emails will look better on the iPad than they do on an iPhone.
Maybe format=“flowed” isn’t being added to the Content-Type header of those messages?
Correct. They look the same in Mail-I assume it is how the forum software formats the message.
My indexed files are being synced from DTPO to DTTG. However, when I change the original file with a separate application, the updated text appears only in DTPO. The updated text does not get synced to DTTG. DTTG only shows the text as it appears when it was first synced.
I am not sure exactly how DTPO decides when it is time to sync a document, but it seems that it does not recognize a modified indexed document as “modified” for the purposes of DTTG syncing.
Am I getting something wrong? Or is there a workaround to make sure that changed indexed documents are recognized by DTPO a requiring a sync?
Thanks!
