Link to doc on hard drive?

I’d like to have a DT document be just a link to a document on my harddrive - a spreadsheet. I’d like to be able to click on the link in DT and have it open the spreadsheet - this seems to be indexing the spreadsheet and having to continually synchronize to keep DT up to date.

I tried the Link command and wrote in the file address, but DT keeps putting an http: in front of it, as if it were a web address. Any way to write a link to a file on my hard drive?

Got it. In Finder I created an alias for the spreadsheet, then dragged that alias into DT.

Why not simply drag the file with Command-Option pressed to index it (means: create a link to it)?
