linking to files

Here’s my workflow challenge:

1. Download a set of files to the “download” folder
2. Skim them, and link to the interesting ones in DT (“Command-Option-Drag”). I do this rather than import them into DT because I also reference these files in both Sente (a citation manager) and OmniFocus.
3. Move these files manually to the hierarchical folders where I keep documents.

Of course, when I move the files manually, DT loses the link.

OmniFocus seems to be able to “know” when I have manually moved a file, and is also able to redefine the link automatically - see the attached screen shot, and so I wonder if this is a feature that could be added to DT

DEVONthink 1.x used aliases but as this caused more harm than good if people are using multiple computers/volumes, support for this has been removed. Indexing & synchronizing the enclosing folder is therefore recommended.
