Links to DEVONthink files

I currently have a database where the files are indexed and synced via OneDrive to two computers. My DEVONthink database (but not the files) is then synced via iCloud (CloudKit).

I often save DEVONthink document, page and annotation links to other documents or toado lists. In the past, I was able to click the links on either computer and immediately open the document in DEVONthink, regardless of which computer I copied the link on.

Recently I’ve noticed that links I’ve tried to copy on one computer only seem to work on that computer. I think, although I’m not sure, that this is mainly affecting files I’ve saved more recently, and that links to older files still work across the two computers - I can double check this later.

Is there any reason why this might be happening and anything I can do to fix it?

What comes to mind an issue with iCloud synchronisation of the indexed files that are external to DEVONthink.

Perhaps the setting for “offline” for the relevant files/folders was changed by something (not DEVONthink) on one of the two computers? Or “disk optimisation” turned on? Both could keep the files “online” and thus unavailable.

Otherwise, don’t know at the moment. Curious.

Have you done a File > Verify & Repair Database in DEVONthink on each Mac?

I hadn’t done so – no idea why I didn’t think to try that – but now I have and the problem is solved. Thanks so much!
