Sie können Elemente auswählen und “Lokal entfernen” aus dem Kontext- oder Aktionsmenü wählen.

Thanks for the tip! I have seen this option in the context menu, but what I am looking for is a global option – without having to select the files. Or is there a work-around? Background: I removed the limitations for local files in the settings, now I’m running out of space 
And re-setting the limit obviously doesn’t have an effect on the files that had been downloaded and stored locally already.

The Retain slider is the global setting, i.e., the maximum number of the most recently accessed/downloaded documents.
Be aware, reducing the slider won’t instantly purge and free up space, like a volume knob would instantly change things. Also, this purges the contents, but not the metadata which includes searchable text. The searchable text also consumes space.
If you’re wondering about the technical side, development would have to speak more authoritatively on the when and how.
