Lost with search, Any Help is welcome :)

Hello I have just created a new database indexer (not imported)
I have added the document :

  • GARECY status updated at 20240829 this document contains the word Myname. (verified with a search
  • This document appears when I do a search on the string 20240829 or *0829

I’ve tried and tried, read and reread the documentation, tried with advanced filters
nothing works …

When I do a search on: 20240829 I find the document that contains: the expression: “Monsieur Arnaud Velten” I’ve checked with DevonOffice search and mac preview.

On the other hand, when I search for “Word in title: Status, Word contained: Arnaud Myname

Nothing

Requete :

  • Arnaud Myname : 111
  • Arnaud NEAR Myname Near Status :0
  • Arnaud AND Myname AND status : 0
  • Arnaud NEAR Myname Near Status
  • Arnaud Myname status : 0
  • Arnaud NEAR Myname NEAR Status :0
  • Arnaud NEAR Myname : 106
  • “Arnaud” AND “Myname” AND “status” :5 But not the good one
  • “Arnaud” AND “Myname” AND “status” AND “2024” : 0

Thanking you for your attention and wishing you a nice day

Screenshots showing what you’re searching for and what is (not) found might help.

This sentence doesn’t really parse. Peut-être la phrase original aiderait à comprendre. It’s not clear (to me) what you’re looking for

  • “Monsieur Arnaud Velten”?
  • “Arnaud Myname”? (Why not Velten)? Why would you expect “Arnaud Myname” to be found if the document contains “Arnaud Velten”?
  • What kind of document is this?
    • If a PDF, is it a PDF+Text file?
      • If not, there’s no text layer and it can’t be searched by contents.

Thank you very much for your reply.
The PDF was not in PDF+Text, now it works.

Is there a way to find all the pdfs that are not in PDF+Text and convert them to OCR?
many thanks

Using a smart group that selects all PDFs with a word count of 0. The forum’s search function will tell you all about it.

Data > New from Template > Smart Groups > PDFs (not searchable)

You’re welcome!

See this blog post for a bit more on the topic:

Thanks to everybody for help
Have a good day
