I was moving files between databases using the contextual menu. DT crashed while the files were being moved. When I restarted DT the files appeared to still be in the original database but when I try to view the files I get a “missing file” message. Where are the files? They are not in the new database and they are not in the original one either. If I have to restore the backed up database to get those files back it will undo a lot of work. How do I find and/or get to just those specific files that are said to be missing?
Hi,
I had a similar problem a few days ago, but I solved it for myself because I thought it was a typical newbie failure.
What I did to solve my problem was simple: As you say, the files are still there, like in my case. I opened the old database package and copied the files folders somewhere else. Then I could import the missing files again into DT.
Of course, the work I did on these files (like highlighting, links etc.) was gone, but the work I had done on other files was saved.
I hope that helps in an urgent case. But I also would like to hear what to do if the files are still in a package but “not found”. In fact, I deleted the old files in the package (which might have been stupid), and made a repair run on the database.
Best,
Maria
Could you please send me the crash logs and any related console messages? Thank you!
The files should be either still in database A or already in database B. Repairing a database will discover eventually orphaned files (and therefore the counterparts of the missing files).
