Move and/or Create external text files?

I am relatively new to DEVONThink, and loving it so far. Before I get in too deep, I have a couple questions related to indexed files. I searched the forums, and couldn’t quite find my exact question/answer, though I may have missed it. I appreciate any help:

  1. I have a text file (rtf) created in DT that is filed in DT’s database. Can I easily move it out of the database to an external folder as an indexed file? (Data > Move To External Folder, is greyed out)

  2. Can I create an external and indexed rtf file from within DT?

If you move a file into an indexed group, it will be moved to the external folder automatically.

That’s actually possible if you create an RTF file within an indexed group.
