Every time I relaunch Devonthink, my inbox is filled with multiple copies of script files (DEVONthink - Index.scpt, DEVONthink - Import to selected group.scpt, DEVONthink - Import, OCR & Delete.scpt) and others. How can I stop this happening?
DT 3.9.11 on Macbook Air Sequoia 15.5.
DT doesn’t replicate anything by itself. Perhaps you have a smart rule running “on start”. But without more detailed information, one can only guess.
- Are you sure those are script files?
- A screen shot would help.
- Do you have any rules in Apple’s Mail app that would export messages to DEVONthink
No rules in Apple Mail and no smart rules on start that I can find.
Try this…
- Quit DEVONthink.
- In the Finder, press Command-Shift-G and paste: ~/Library/Application Support/DEVONthink/Inbox
- If you see the files in here you can safely delete them.
- Relaunch DEVONthink.
Every second one of the scripts is indexed, i.e. in an indexed folder…
That instruction does not find the Inbox folder. In Application Support, there is Devonthink 3 and Devonthink Pro 2 and neither Inbox has any files in it.
The indexed file entries show “File missing”
Did you index your home directory or the User Library ?
No, I index various folders within databases, but not the home directory or library.
What does a right click on the Inbox in DT and then Show in Finder
tell you?
Those are specifically folder action scripts that reside in the ~/Library/Scripts/Folder Action Scripts directory. That has to have been indexed.
Found the files in Folder Action Scripts, so I have deleted them there. Appears to have fixed the problem on restart. Thank you!
You’re welcome.
