New With Clipboard question

In the current version of DT Pro on Snow Leopard, I created some unformatted text in TextEdit and then copied it to the Clipboard. Then, in DT Pro, I clicked Data > New With Clipboard expecting a plain text file to be created. Instead, an RTF was created. Was I incorrect in my expectation?

By default, text created in TextEdit documents does have formatting. If you convert the TextEdit document to plain text first (‘Menu>Format>Make Plain Text’ in TextEdit on Mavericks), then copy a selection of text, the New from clipboard command in DEVONthink should result in a new plain text document.

Thanks. I also found that when I copy from TextWrangler no conversion is necessary.

Because TextWrangler (and its buddy, BBEdit) are plain-text-only apps. They cannot do rich text.
