Newbie Help - My OCR function just is not working, and I cannot do most of the fixes on here because OCR and ABBYY do not even show up in my Preferences Menu. Any help?

Hi! I am brand new to DevonThink so apologies if this is a silly question, but my application, which I bought primarily to convert research work into OCR files and index it, is not showing me any option to OCR at all anymore. I click on both images and PDFs I have indexed in DevonThink, try to convert them to OCR searchable PDFs, and my license box pops up. When I go to Preferences, I don’t even see an OCR option (seems like a much smaller set of options) and I also don’t seem to be able to find my ABBYY script. Any help would be great. Thanks!

Do you have DEVONthink Pro installed?

I have DevonThink 3.0. I paid for Pro but I don’t see it installed. Will I have to pay again?

Sorry I am so new to data softwares.

@BLUEFROG will certainly know how to fix this. My guess is that you’ve installed the wrong edition – OCR is only available in Pro

There is no separate installation of any edition of DEVONthink. You download and install one application. The features you have available are dependent on the license you purchase.

Please open a support ticket with our Sales department to verify the details of the purchase.

So I just “updated” my license to Pro and tried to activate it on my already existing DevonThink and it told me I need to re-dowload the Pro App. I’ll open a support ticket but am I downloading corrupt files?
