Ocr import of converted Tiff files

Is there any way to convert tiff or jpeg files so that they can be OCR-ed? I had hoped that saving tiff files to PDF (in the Mac Print menu) would work, but it doesn’t.

I think jpegs should work, if resulting from a scan of sufficiently high resolution.

There’s a truly wonderful program, GraphicConverter, that can save multipage or individual tiff (or other image types including jpeg) files as PDF. Give it a try

If you have lots of tiff images GraphicConverter can do a batch conversion of all of them to PDF format.
