When I open anything, the window pops out and it opens always on the left side of the screen, Is there away to open it on the right side of the screen? or this is a Mac thing? if it is, how do I make it to open on the right side?
thank you

We canât see your screen from here. Please post a screen capture of what window youâre referring to.
by default every item(window) you open in DevonThink it opens on the right side, correct?
No. Are you using multiple monitors?
no multiple monitor.
when you open an item in DevonThink where on the screen the item(window) shows? centre, left or right side?
Just curious. Exactly why do you care?
Canât just drag the window to where you want if not where you want?
If with âopen anythingâ you mean what â+O does, then DT seems to remember the last position of the window. If you have never done this with a document before, it will open on the left-hand side of the screen for the first time. Iâm not sure if this is a general rule, but it seems to be the case for me.
Edit: This behavior also works with multiple screens. If an open window is dragged to a second screen and then closed, it opens again on this second screen.
I see same. Well spotted. DEVONthink does that, but when same key combination used in Finder, the opened window always on left, as far as I can tell. so, yes, I also conclude this a DEVONthink thing. Until now I never noticed (or cared).
thatâs exactly what I mean, you are the only one who got this.
I donât get why Mac doesnât have an option to choose by default where on scree the window should show the first time you open a doc. and DevonThink carried this behaviour too. My dock and everything else is on the right side of the screen, I find it more comfortable and easy that way. and would like anything I open for the first time to open on the right side too.
windows and apple machines always had the dock onthe left side of the screen Iâm guessing this is why a document opens on the lefts side of the screen and that side is where most actions happen too. notice how settings is on the tool bar at the top left corner too. about a decade or so ago Apple gave you a choice to put your dock any side you wanted to but they forgot to have an option to move everything to one side too
Yes, DEVONthink remembers the last position of main or document windows. For documents youâve not opened previously: if you open a document window and move it to the right, the next never-opened document window you open should open in the same place. Sizes are also preserved.
If you have previously opened a document, it should return to its last position and size.
Would you like to choose the size and position of a window yourself? Thatâs no problem. Maybe it works with a script. Iâm not familiar with that.
But it certainly works with an app like BetterTouchTool or Keyboard Maestro. You need such an app in any case if you donât want to accept the âstandardsâ of another app like DT. So, highly recommended
yup that wound be wonderful, having a script to do the size and position.
I do have BTT. how does one go about it with BTT
