Opening record without inspector

An aspect of DT that causes just a little friction for me is that often if I open a record, an inspector sits at the side of the window. This seems to happen if the previous open document had the inspector open. If I hide the inspector, then close and reopen tye record, or open any other record, or a bunch of them, then the inspector doesn’t appear with any of them and I don’t have to hide it with every opening action.

Is there a way that I wasn’t aware of, or a hidden preference, to make it so that whenever I open a doc, it is inspector-free?

Opening a document window uses the setting of the last visited window, main or document.

Also, it’s easy enough to press Option-Command-I to toggle the inspectors on or off, in both document and main windows.

Not if the last window visited is a viewer window, in my experience.
And although the keyboard shortcut is easy, when I open 30 documents at once, I would like to skip those 30 keystrokes. That’s friction.
