I downloaded an EOB from my insurance company in PDF and moved it into Devonthink. When I look at the file the reader pane image is corrupted. The PDF is unreadable and looks like an ascii dump! If I open the file in Adobe it seems to be fine.
What is happening and how can I fix it?.
Not all PDF’s are created equal, as are PDF readers. Over the years, I’ve noticed issus with PDF provided by big institutions who have their own technology to make PDF, apparently.
I suggest in Adobe, you “print” a new PDF. Another idea is to open the PDF using Apple Preview and see if it reads ok. If yes, “print” a new PDF from there.
Does the file have a .pdf extension, how does it look like in Preview.app?
