Please fix Bookmarklet

I make heavy use of the PDF bookmarklet. Upon upgrading to 2.9.15, its functioning has changed. Clicking on the bookmarklet immediately changes the focus from my browser to DTPO, which is not a feature I want. Note: I used to be able to restart DTPO and have it revert to not shifting the focus. This workaround no longer works.

Thanks, but Chrome for Sierra doesn’t have a Share menu.

The bookmarklet is actually still the same, the browser is responsible whether the target application is activated or not.

Thanks for that response, Christian.

Based on that information, I restarted the browser to see if the focus change would stop. It didn’t. This begs the question: If the code didn’t change and the upgrade causes it to behave differently, can you add a line to the bookmarklet code to prevent a change in focus?

Thank you. This is a key part of my workflow, so a fix would really help!

Bookmarklets can’t handle this on their own, this is completely handled by macOS and the browser unfortunately.

For example, Firefox doesn’t exhibit this behavior.

Thanks, guys. Unfortunately, your explanations cannot be reconciled with the facts:

The OS and the browser haven’t changed.
DTPO was upgraded.
The bookmarklet now functions differently.

Logic dictates that something about the upgrade has changed how the bookmarklet code functions. For example, when the focus shifts to DTPO, I see a window indicating Downloading… I had never seen that before. Could that be a factor?

Chrome just updated last week.

Thanks, Jim. Chrome is the one app I allow to autoupdate, precisely because I want to maintain control of the variables. Thanks for letting me know. What are the chances of the two updates occurring within days of each other, confounding my troubleshooting!

It’s unfortunate that Google’s “upgrade” causes my work with DTPO to degrade…

It’s actually why I mentioned Firefox. The update of Chrome caused a stall when clipping a Bookmark. Though I am not a fan of Firefox in general, it’s proving to be faster than Chrome and the extension is working properly.
