Problem importing annotated Word files

Hi all,

I’m new to Devonthink so I apologize if this is a naive question.

I am trying to import Word files that have highlighting in them. When I do, the highlighting is not visible when the document is viewed in Devonthink – I have to click all the way through to open it again in Word. Is there any way to preserve these annotations when importing from Word so that you can see them in Devonthink?

Melinda, to display Word documents (and almost every other kind of document in your database) DEVONthink uses a “Quick Look Plugin”, which is a program provided by the developer for that kind of editor – Microsoft, in the case of Word. DEVONthink will give you exactly the same kind of display that you’ll experience if you preview your Word documents in Finder – because Finder uses the same Quick Look plugin.

Because Microsoft didn’t write a plugin that shows highlighting in previewed documents, DEVONthink cannot display it.
