Chances are good I’m being dumb, but I’m having trouble dragging a out a group that is nested within another group to turn parent-child into siblings. When I drag I can only place it as a child into another parent group. There are no straight lines shown between parent groups that indicate I can slip it in there.

If View > Sort is set to anything other than Unsorted, then you will not be able to manually change the sequence of groups.
Weird workaround – I still wanted sorting by kind, I just wanted to elevate the sibling, sorted by kind with the rest of its new peers.
But it did work, so thanks, and much appreciated.
I wasn’t thinking that working-as-expected was a “workaround” … but, glad everything is better
