I’ve installed Word Services in both my user Library and the System library but I still can’t get a selection to form smart quotes or straight quotes. I’ve tried Text Edit and Nisus, selecting text and using Services drop down menu or the keyboard combo. Selection of the text disappears and cursor shifts to end of selection I want quoted.
Other Services seem to operate just fine.
Can you advise?

Which version of Mac OS X do you use? Has been anything logged to the system console?

I re-read the Read Me file that accompanies the Word Services and noted my mistake:
The “Smart Quotes” function does not create quotes around some selected material–it only makes the quotes I have already typed into “smart” ones.
I thought I could just quote material (place " at each end of selection) with this Service.
