Rebuilding woes

I’ve been trying out DT Pro and have been very impressed… until this morning. My MacBook Pro died suddenly (battery problem). When I rebooted DT Pro reported “2 major file errors”. I’ve only had DT Pro for 24 hours, I don’t have any backups, so I proceeded. The Verification step then:

“Found 5607 errors in memory, 788298 file errors and 0 incorrect checksums”.

I cliked OK to proceed with the Rebuild. DT displays a message box with “Exporting” and a progress bar, but that progress bar never moves, even after an hour.

Inside the dtBase package I found a DEVONthink.lock file and a Rebuild directory. Inside Rebuild I found a directory called 05292006202250 with 3 dirs inside that. (05292006202250, 05292006202250-1, 05292006202250-2). Inside those directories I found DEVONtech_storage and a file with a long, strange name :

{\rtf1\mac\ansicpg10000\cocoartf824\cocoasubrtf390?{\fonttbl\f0\fswiss\fcharset77 Helvetica-Bold;\f1\fswiss\fcharset77 Helvetica;}?{\colortbl;\red255\green255\blue255;}?\pard\tx560\tx1120\tx1680\tx2240\tx2800\tx3360\tx3920\tx4480\tx5040\tx5600\tx6160.t

What concerns me is none of the files in the package are being modified. DT is running but consuming very few resources, so I don’t know if it is worth waiting on it or if I should just start over.

I hope this kind of thing doesn’t happen very often, I’m getting attached to this app

Any tips would be appreciated

Such things can happen if the computer isn’t shut down correctly (as volume caches or harddisc caches are not written back leaving the last modified files in an incorrect state) but it’s probably better to start over.
