Looking for a way to scrape a cooking recipe webpage and import directly into Devonthink in a consistent way, preferably with a hero image.
Is there a script out there for this or some documented direction i can take to do this.
Found this website which does this but not directly into Devonthink - https://www.justtherecipe.com/
I would view the recipe webpage in Reader view in Safari. Then scroll to the recipe and select all the text for the recipe. Next, with that selection in place, chose the “DEVONthink 3: Take Rich Note” command from the Safari > Services menu to send that selected text into a new note in DEVONthink.
This is generally a good recipe from scraping any text from Safari or other app into DEVONthink. Alternatively, you can make a selection in Safari and invoke the Sorter from the Safari Share menu, etc.
Read the manual.
I did something similar to korm using screenshot of recipe from JustTheRecipe of the webpage into DT and then converting to PDF using bookmarklets that DT offers in your SCRIPTS area.
It works, but its clunky and slow.
Since I keep an archive of all recipes I use often, I just use the same scripts and “Clip to DEVONTHINK” using above mentioned bookmarklets. It preserves the entire webpage, so it is NOT what you wanted.
I just found this and it does work as you wish it to! https://www.reddit.com/r/cookingforbeginners/comments/11m88a6/i_made_a_website_that_removes_all_the_clutter/?rdt=50625
YMMV, but it worked perfectly for me. It does require email signup, and the recipes are public unless you join as a patron. You could just use it and delete the recipe if you wish it to remain private without paying.
