Recurring spinning beachball with v3.9.9

Since updating to v3.9.9, I am running into fairly frequent “spinning beachballs”, where DT is completely hung. If I resist the temptation to force-quit, it eventually resolves itself after about 30 seconds (haven’t timed exactly).

This is occurring on my work MacBook (M1 Max Pro) running Sequoia 15.4.1.

The machine is quite “locked down”, with iCloud blocked. I have Sync set to “Manually” and have no sync locations defined, and have “On Quit or Deactivation” unchecked—just in case it might be some network-related timeout of some sort.

I have also changed Check for Updates to “Weekly”, again thinking that perhaps it’s the corporate firewall causing issues—though clicking the Check Now button returns results fast.

Any ideas how I can debug / capture logs to diagnose? Any help will be appreciated as this is occurring frequently (every 10–20 minutes … again, haven’t timed exactly) and is rather frustrating. I do, however, resist the temptation to force-quit as that leaves my databases in rather unhappy states (orphaned files, etc.).

Did you look at the troubleshooting section of the help?

Please launch Apple’s Activity Monitor application (see Applications > Utilities), select the frozen DEVONthink 3.9.9 in the list of processes, choose the menu item View > Sample Process and send the result to cgrunenberg - at - devon-technologies.com. Thanks in advance!

Thanks Christian. Will do. I’m in Toronto this week working on-prem from the company network and will see if these issues recur or are, possible, related to remote work while on the VPN.
