Rich text ruler, indents, formatting

i’m having trouble getting the Rich text editor to function as I would expect for example it starts at -5 inches and the indents are weird. Is there a way to set it up so that it will be more like Word? Many thanks

Bearing in mind, DEVONthink isn’t Word nor is RTF .docx, the behavior is the same as you’d find in TextEdit.

  1. Choose Data > New > Rich Text.
  2. Select the document and choose Format > Ruler > Show Ruler when you’re viewing it.
  3. Put your cursor in the empty content in the view/edit pane and press Command-A to select all.
  4. Set your margins and tab stops, etc. and save the file.
  5. With the file selected, choose File > Export > Template.
  6. Save the document to the directory shown or a subfolder in it, e.g., My Templates.
  7. To use it later, select Data > New From Template and choose your template. It will come in with the margins, etc. with which you saved it.
