Often I need to store the content from some web site/page into DevonThink.
However if I use the Safari plugin, what ever option I use (for ex PDF (one page)), for sites where authentication is required, I get the login page saved into Devonthink instead the content of the page (aside of fact that in Safari I am already login).
When I say sites (sorry not being specific in first place) I mean for ex: in the company where I provide my services there confluence pages which require 2FA authentication.
So while I auth myself successfully in Safari, the attempt to save that page in Devon is unsuccessful, that is I get the login screen as pdf.
Yes of course, there are multiple ways to do that, like print as pdf from safari, or just copy/paste as rtf into Devon. But my point was to have one click solution.
This is common problem with all web clippers so far I used - they cannot go beyond login screen if authentication is required. Similar is for IOS shortcuts for example.
So I raised this question just in case someone found the solution, so I can save myself from extra few steps.
Apps on a Mac haven’t shared cookies in years. “Auth yourself” via a bookmark in DEVONthink instead and see how capture go. In fact, you can clip inside DEVONthink via the Action menu in the Navigation bar or Tools > Capture > Clip to DEVONthink inside of DEVONthink.
Also, have you tried browsing and using Confluence in DEVONthink?
Thanks for the tip @BLUEFROG: this actually works , once I auth with 2FA from within Devonthink I can browse confluence and Clip to Devonthink.
Now I need to think which is less “expensive” method from productivity standpoint: cause when I usually work I jump to Safari as per need … will switching first to Devonthink and going from there will be more convenient, or I just stick to my current method (copy/paste the text + link and then created rtf(d) in Devon) - I’ll see.
I browse several sites in DEVONthink. In fact, I am responding to you now in a tab in a DEVONthink window. Granted, the sites relate to DEVONthink and my work (part of why it feels comfortable to me), but I’ve been doing this for almost 12 years.
