Safari plug in (clip to DevonThink) stopped working

I do not know if this is related to my upgrade to Sonoma 14.5 but seems to have started roughly at this time - the above plug-in no longer works. I cannot set destination folder in DT nor format (e.g. bookmark vs web archive vs pdf) and even if I accept these limitations, the plug-in does not add the web page to DT. I installed the Firefox plug in and that works, however, I do not use (or want to use) Firefox as my default browser for a host of reasons. Is the problem with Safari a known problem. Would it be worth trying to uninstall DT and re-installing it? Thanks for any advice

Why would you think of reinstalling? Read this blog post…

And are you saying the Sorter opens but the controls aren’t working?

Yes. This just started happening to me today. Was working fine half a day then it started failing, where I was not allowed, as @ethanw6258 describes. “cannot set destination folder in DT” nor set the format. Safari 17.5 (19618.2.12.11.6). The only way that I can set the destination is by selecting Print>PDF> Save PDF to Devonthink where a small box opens where I can select the destination.

Update. My configuration is: MacBookPro, used as an extended display, and using my iPadPro as a separate “main” display. When a Safari window is on the iPadPro, I am able to control the Sorter destination settings. It is when DevonThink is in the extended display that the sorter does not work.

Which version of DEVONthink do you use?

3.9.6

Does restarting the app or computer fix this?

Restarting the app does not fix this. I think that it is Mac “display settings” issue because I have had the same type of problem with another app (TheBrain). If the screen is set as “main display” then the apps work fine. But if the same screen is set to “extended display” then it does not handle the screen positioning math correctly (I am not a programmer so it is my guess).

Can you send a copy of the console log. The easiest way to do this is in DEVONthink, select the help menu, whilst pressing the ⌥Option Key select “Report a bug”. At the top of the email add “For the attention of Alan”.

I have tried various combinations of using an iPad Pro as either the main screen or as an extended screen and in each case was unable to reproduce your issue. Could you do a screen recording of the issue on your iPad Pro.
