Saving Scanned Files

I have the Fujitsu ScanSnap scanner and I am using it to scan files into my DTPro Office. I have set the ScanSnap Manager to recognize DTPro as the preferred application. When I scan a document it is automatically given a name which includes the date scanned. I am given the opportunity to rename the file which I do before saving it in DT. I notice that the originally named file is saved in my Documents folder. Are those files duplicates? Can I safely trash them?

They are the original files created by the ScanSnap Manager and they can be safely trashed.
