Scanner not recognized until Image Capture is running

Mountain Lion, Devonthink personal 2.4.1, Canoscan LIDE 200

Looking forward to being able to scan directly to devonthink but no luck so far. The scanner does not show up UNLESS I am already running Image Capture. I doubt this is how this feature is supposed to work.

Any thoughts?

You shouldn’t need Image Capture running for the your scanner to be recognised as the scanning using the same underlying technology as Image Capture. We are currently investigating this issue, which appears only to be effecting canon scanners and I will post an update when I have some news.
