ScanSnap OCR stalling

Immediately after installing DEVONthink Pro Office update 2.4.3, OCR from ScanSnap Manager stalled and I can’t get it restarted. The activity window shows no progress in the progress bar when I try to import or convert to searchable PDF. This is what I am getting in the Console log:

[size=85]11/4/12 10:09:08.719 AM ScanSnap Manager: [ScanSnap Manager] 2012/11/4 10:9:8 SSDevCtl5110.cpp TestUnitReady L1085 0x00000002 Status not good

After force quitting SnanSnap Manager and restarting, and restarting DTPO, I am getting:

[size=85]11/4/12 10:48:49.103 AM ScanSnap Manager: [ScanSnap Manager] 2012/11/4 10:48:49 SSDevCtl5110.cpp GetProperError L6719 0xd004000b No sense
11/4/12 10:27:34.084 AM ScanSnap Manager: [ScanSnap Manager] 2012/11/4 10:27:34 SSDevCtl5110.cpp GetImageData L2488 0x00000002 Status not good

I especially like the part about “no sense”. As I recall, something similar happened the last time I updated DTPO and I had to fall back to an earlier version. Any suggestions? I am using Lion 10.7.5 on a 2010 i7 iMac. ScanSnap Manager is Version 3.2 L41, with a ScanSnap S510M.

In ScanSnap Manager: Is “Use Quick Menu” unchecked (it should be)? In Settings > Save, what’s the location to which output is saved (Pictures, the default, is OK)?

Thanks for your quick attention! Use Quick Menu is unchecked; output is saved to ~/Downloads. It stalls whether I am OCRing immediately after scan or after the document has been imported. I’ve been using this set-up daily for years and it was peachy-keen until the latest DTPO update.

Well, don’t I feel silly. I used the old tried-and-true troubleshooter – restarted the computer. Works fine now. Oh well, maybe this will help someone else.

One of the great mysteries of computing that no tech can fully explain… why does the reboot so often work? :smiley:
Glad it did. Cheers! 8^)
