I’ve searched the forums and found several requests for improved “search by date” capabilities (more than “last year”, “this year”, …), but I could not find out, if this is a planned feature for a future release or not. Is it?

We really need to be able to search within date parameters like the search engines do. This would eliminate a high percentage of useless results!

Yes, search by date or date range is possible using the Advanced button.
Hold down the Option key while adding an already-existing predicate such as date created.
