Hello,
is it possible to search for PDFs that include an image/graphics? e.g. as an additional AND-condition
If so, will it work in DTTG as well?
Is there also a function in DT to easily extract all graphics from a PDF?
THANKS
Erwin

No, in both cases. Why? What are you trying to accomplish?
Also, there are bespoke applications that allow you to extract some kinds of data, e.g., Acrobat.
What even is an image/graphic in a PDF? Is a horizontal line a graphic? Are two intersecting lines? If there’s a TIFF-encoded object showing a paragraph of text – is that text or a graphic?
A PDF is a graphic. Dots of ink on virtual paper. Basically. Even if you were to extract all PDF “objects” that are encoded as raster images, you’d still miss vector graphics. And writing the code would be … challenging.
Thanks for for quick reply.
One use case, for example, is to search for relevant publications from DT in preparation for lectures for students or presentations and, in a second step, to ectract all the illustrations from these in order to be able to create PowerPoint slides more quickly.
E.g. with Marginnote it is possible to extract images from PDF files, but it would be better to do it directly in DEVONthink, even more important would be the ability to filter only those documents that have illustrations.
Thanks
Erwin
Yes, I can imagine that it would be kind of challenging, I have never studied in-depth the PDF format, so I cannot really comment on this. For extraction the way Marginnote is able to do it would be sufficient.
Thanks
